What to look out for when choosing plugins for your WordPress site
When looking through WordPress plugins, it’s important to note that many scammers and others could harm your page with their plugins. That’s why it’s a good idea to keep an eye on:
- When their plugin was last updated.
- The developer’s reputation.
- The amount of active installations on that plugin.
- The rating of the plugin.
Locating the plugins
You can locate these plugins in a number of ways. The easiest, probably, would be under the plugins tab when logging into your admin page, as shown below.
You can also download plugins from WordPress.org. Then, you can take those downloaded zipped files and upload them to your WordPress site under the “Add Plugins” page.
My teacher allowed me to add a plugin of my choosing, and so I chose one that added a visually pleasing effect to my site.
I decided, because my teacher already had me download all of the most useful plugins, I would do something fun that represents the whimsy I wish to have in my site. The plugin is called FaeCursor, and it adds a sparkle effect to the user’s cursor when they visit my site. I hope that it will entice people who also enjoy that vibe to explore my site more.
It has so many effects; the image above shows a list of them, and you can change the icon as well. I chose stars because I really like how they look.
I almost chose UltimateCursor because it has more options, but you have to pay for most of them.
